Colombia’s government has announced that crude reserves at the end of 2014 were 2.308 billion barrels, a level 5.6% lower than the 2.445 billion bbl recorded a year earlier. Colombia has struggled in recent years to boost reserves as exploration activity by state producer Ecopetrol has not led to substantial new discoveries. Ecopetrol accounts for roughly three-quarters of national hydrocarbon production.
