Williams Snubs $48 Billion Energy Transfer Offer

Natural gas pipeline giant Williams Companies has rejected a buyout offer from fellow midstream energy player Energy Transfer Equity, saying the offer significantly undervalued the company. Dallas-based Energy Transfer had offered stock worth $48 billion for Williams. Assumption of debt and other liabilities would have pushed the total value of the proposed deal to $53 billion.
