Latest Data Show Slower Decline in US Oil Rig Count

The rapid decline in the number of rigs drilling for oil and natural gas in the US slowed significantly in the past week, falling by "only" 48 after plunging by around 90 rigs in each of the previous three weeks. The latest data from oil-field services provider Baker Hughes showed 1,019 rigs drilling for oil and 289 rigs drilling for gas in the week ended Feb. 20.
