President Barack Obama has announced another round of pledges from US companies that have agreed to take measures to curb their carbon emissions and generally reduce their environmental footprint. With the global cost of forestalling and mitigating the worst impacts of climate change estimated at about $100 billion per year, the Obama administration has been eager to round up commitments from the private sector.
