Italy's Eni made a new oil discovery in its Meleiha concession in Egypt's Western Desert, the company announced on Wednesday. The discovery resulted from the Rosa North 1X well, which Eni says is part of its strategy to "refocus exploration activities in Egypt by targeting deeper oil plays in the Western Desert." The development of the discovery will entail the drilling of at least two development wells in 2013, the company said.
