Gazprom Slaps Ukraine With Gas Bill

Russia's state - controlled Gazprom said Tuesday it will halt gas supplies to Ukraine on Jun. 3 unless the country pays in advance a $1.66 billion bill for June supplies. According to Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov, the bill is based on volumes stipulated by the 2009 supply contract of 114 MMcm/d at a price of $486.5 per thousand cubic meters.
