QEP to Make Clean Break With MLP

Natural gas-focused QEP Resources said it will separate itself completely from its midstream master limited partnership (MLP), acceding to demands from activist hedge fund Jana Partners (OD Nov.15'13). The newly independent company will be called QEP Field Services Co. and will include QEP's current 63.3% stake in QEP Midstream Partners, which went public in August and holds QEP's natural gas gathering and processing assets in Wyoming and North Dakota.
