Gazprom Neft Quits Cuba

Gazprom Neft has finally made a decision to quit a project offshore Cuba, where Russia's fourth-largest crude oil producer drilled a dry well last year. A spokesman for the company told International Oil Daily that in September it should complete all the formalities to quit the project, where the Russian firm holds a 30% share in four deepwater blocks off Cuba -- N44, N45, N50 and N51 -- in partnership with 70% operator Malaysian Petronas. The production sharing agreement for the project allowed for oil exploration and production across the four blocks through 2037 and gas activities until 2042.
