The Oklahoma City-based independent reported solid third-quarter results marked by strong oil and gas production and lower capital spending. Chesapeake said its adjusted net earnings totaled $282 million, up from $35 million in the third quarter of 2012 and in line with consensus analyst estimates, due to a strong operating performance that included lower per-unit costs.
