Shale developments in the US could reduce Asia-Pacific's dependence on Middle East condensate for its petrochemicals industry, as US upstream producers turn to more profitable liquids-rich basins, Houston-based Asia Pacific Economics Consulting (Apec) says. However, the size of the volumes moving East will depend on whether the US lifts its ban on crude exports, the consultancy adds.
