Shell-Led Group Firms Up Plans to Export LNG From Canada

Backed by a trio of companies from Asian countries that are the world’s three largest consumers of liquefied natural gas, Shell Canada is firming up plans for a multibillion-dollar LNG export terminal in the small British Columbia seaport of Kitimat. In October, Shell and its partners -- PetroChina, South Korea’s Kogas and Japan’s Mitsubishi -- purchased the Kitimat Marine Terminal from Cenovus Energy and said they were exploring the potential for an LNG export terminal on the site (OD Oct.21’11).
