Just eight regional firms have bid on fiveof the six marginal Amazon blocks offeredby Ecuador in June, according to the coun-try’s Ministry of Non-Renewable Resources(OD Jun.22’11).The six blocks, Armadillo, Chanangue,Charapa, Eno-Ron, Ocano-Pena Blanca andSingue, contain eight fields. Armadillo,which operated between 1995-99, receivedthree bids, Ocana-Pena Blanca two, andSingue, Eno Ron and Chanangue one each.No bids were received for Charapa, so state-owned Petroecuador will continue to drillthere, the ministry said.
