Niger Starts Producing Oil

Niger has started producing its first oil from the giant Agadem block, operated by China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC). The landlocked state in Northwest Africa began production in mid-October and is due to reach 20,000 b/d by mid-November, Niger's director of petroleum exploration, Ousseini Assane Boureima, told the Africa Oil Week conference in Cape Town on Wednesday.
