Chevron: US Needs Energy Policy to Make Most of its Resources

Chevron Chief Executive John Watson be-lieves the US is on the cusp of an “energy re-naissance” due to its tremendous resourcepotential both offshore and in unconven-tional onshore plays. But he says that a “ra-tional, robust and comprehensive” energypolicy will be critical to making the most ofthat potential.Speaking at a Greater Houston Partner-ship luncheon, Watson said politicians fromboth parties must begin to recognize “theimportance affordable energy plays in oureconomic well-being,” and shape regulatoryand tax policies accordingly.
