Uzbekistan and China have inked a framework agreement to build and operate the Uzbek section of a third line of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline network, a source in the Uzbek government told Prime- Tass news agency last week. The cost of the new, up-to-25 Bcm/yr, gas pipeline is estimated at $2.2 billion. The construction, which will be financed with loans from China Development Bank along with direct financing from China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), is set for completion in 2014. A preliminary feasibility study is due by the end of the year, according to the report.
