China's refineries processed a record 38.724 million tons of crude in December, or about 9.156 million b/d, according to data released Thursday by the National Bureau of Statistics. The average was up 12.2% yearon-year and 5.7% from November, when the previous record was set. The country's refiners ramped up production in the last quarter of the year to cope with diesel shortages triggered by increased demand from power generators. Diesel output in December hit 3.522 million b/d, up 10.5% from a year earlier and 3.2% higher than November.
