Talisman Energy's third-quarter profit from operations grew over a third, helped partially by higher oil prices. Earnings from operations, which exclude most one-time items, rose to $165 million from $120 million a year ago. Revenue for the quarter rose 16% to $1.96 billion. Talisman is a Canadian company but reports in US dollars. Brent oil prices hovered near $110 per barrel in the third quarter, nearly 50% higher than the year-ago quarter, but were slightly lower sequentially.
