China, Kazakhs Ink Pipe Deal

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC)has signed a basic principles of agreementwith its Kazakh counterpart for the financ-ing, design, construction and operation of aregional gas pipeline. CNPC said onWednesday that the deal was inked in theKazakh capital Astana two days earlier in thepresence of Wu Bangguo, the standing com-mittee chairman of China’s National People’sCongress. Wu’s visit followed a tour ofUzbekistan last week.
