Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) projects carried out during the last 10 years provide a basis for characterizing the types of reservoirs suitable for MEOR applications. This concluding part in a two-part series describes 10 field cases involving 221 producing wells in Malaysia, the US, Argentina, and China. The first part (OGJ, Aug. 17, 2009, p. 39) discussed the ways microbes can enhance oil recovery. Of the 10 field cases discussed, most are in China.
