RMA projecting increase in tire shipments this year

WASHINGTON—U.S. tire shipments will total 311.2 million units in 2015, a slight increase over the 310.7 million shipped in 2014, the Rubber Manufacturers Association has projected. The RMA expects shipments in all major original equipment tire sectors to rise in 2015: passenger tires to 49 million from 47.8 million; light truck tires to 4.7 million from 4.6 million; and medium/heavy truck tires to 5.9 million from 5.7 million.
