A report released in September by busi-ness-intelligenc supplier IntierraRMG { states that global industrial group Atlas Copco and global high-technology engineering group Sandvik are the market leaders in underground mining mobile equipment, with mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar being the most viable competitor.The two-year study, which identified the manufacturers of an estimated 10 000 trucks, load-haul dumpers (LHDs), drills and bolters used in underground mining, concludes that Atlas Copco and Sandvik each control more than one-third of the sector, while Caterpillar controls a significant share of the LHD and truck markets.
