Misconceptions of the Relation between Surface Energy and Surface Tension on a Solid

In a recent paper,1 a relationship among the surface tension, surface energy, and surface chemical potential on a solid is derived. We point out inconsistencies in this derivation and outline that no physical interpretation exists for the origin of surface tension as defined in the article.
