The use of erythropoietin in burns: Sometimes good, sometimes not?

Over the past decades, advances in burn care increased the survival rate of patients suffering from severe burns. Key factors for successful burn care are adequate first aid and intensive care, prevention or decrease of burn wound progression, and support in wound healing, either with conservative or surgical methods. Multiple options and measures are available in order to decrease burn wound progression and to improve wound healing, but none of them is really well established.
