摘要

We thank Drs. Zampieri, Park, and Azevedo (1) for their insightful comments. As they point out, it is possible that the positive association between both central venous pressure and fluid balance and death may simply indicate that they are physiologic indicators of disease severity that are not captured by traditional Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II scoring (1). We detail why we believe differently, and particularly that the dose of fluids and eventual central venous pressure influence survival.
