Strikes spread to SA iron-ore, diamond mines

IRON-ore and diamond miners were the latest producers to be hit by the continued labour unrest in South Africa as company executives made a stand against the illegal strikes. During the week, Kumba Iron Ore, a subsidiary of Anglo American plc, said about 300 employees had downed tools at the company's Sishen mine in the Northern Cape. The company said most of the mine had been unaffected as the strikes were limited to one area.
