THE Australian Competition Tribunal has ruled that iron-ore giants RioTinto and BHP Billiton must make their respective Robe River and Goldsworthy rail lines available for third-party use. However, the Tribunal also decided that the Hamersley and Mt Newman lines need not be shared. The ruling follows a previous decision, in 2008, by the Federal Treasurer to declare all four railway lines available to third-party access.
