WA Liberal candidate assures redress to ban on uranium

WESTERN Australian shadow minister for mines and resources Norman Moore has re-affirmed the Liberal party's commitment to overturning the current ban on uranium mining in the state. The Labor party had a long-standing ban on the development of new uranium mines in Australia, a policy which was overturned on the federal level in August 2006. However, the incumbent Western Australian branch has held on to the policy. Now the Liberal party, hoping for election when the state decides on September 6, has assured uranium exploration companies, their investment has not been wasted.
