THE ASEAN Federation of Mining Associations was officially formed on June 19, 1984. This was a result of the desire of the Indonesian Mining Association, the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines, the Malaysian Chamber of Mines and the Mining Industry Council of Thailand, to advance the goals of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).The constitution of the Federation was signed by the presidents of the four founding members on February 15, 1985. The Federation is a private non-stock and nonprofit organisation, whose officers are the president, the vice president and the secretary-general (all elected by the General Assembly).The office is currently in the country of the secretary-general, until such time as a permanent domicile is decided upon by the General Assembly.
