Global copper scrap demand remains fairly strong, but it does not feel quite as strong as some of the fundamentals indicate since some traders and international players, including China, are backing off a little until they can better predict where copper prices - and the global economy - are heading. The International Copper Study Group reports that global apparent consumption of refined copper grew by 6% for the first two months of 2012 compared with the first two months of last year. That was largely due to strong growth in Chinese apparent consumption, which represents about 4% of global demand.
