Cobalt prices stabilised on March 21 after droppingfive days earlierto their lowest levels since 2009, a fall thatsparked lively debate among market participants. High-grade prices remained at S13.80-14.70 per lb mid-week, while, at $13.20-14.25, low-grade prices also held steady. This was the weakest that the low-grade low has been since the June 17 2009 level of $13.10. Demand has held up in recent weeks, with several completed sales transacted, and many market participants expect stable prices or an upswing over the coming weeks. "Supplies have simply been even strongerthan demand," one source said.
