Russia-based Mechel is preparing to acquire a stake in Ukraine's Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant (Demz), which produces special bar-quality (SBQ) long products and billet, a Mechel spokeswoman said. One of the draft resolutions for Mechel's annual shareholders' meeting - to be held on June 6 - includes approval forthe100% acquisition of Cyprus-based Daveze, which holds shares in Demz.
