Lastweek's increase in cadmium prices doubled the gains the minor metal had made since the start of2010. Producers, buyers and traders agreed that prices were up, but called the reasons forthe rally into question even as the market returned to levels not seen since October 2008. Some sources are sceptical of the increases, saying that the price rises have become a self-fulfilling prophecy as more bullish traders chased each others' bids and offers higher.
