Shanghai Sigma Metals Inc, China's largest secondary aluminium producer, could halve production this year if market conditions do not improve, chairman and ceo Tony Huang said. The company's Shanghai ingot plant has already reduced output to 12,000 tpm from 20,000 tpm to cope with falling orders and to run down stockpiles. "If the severe economic conditions continue, total production might drop by 50 percent from 2008," Huangtold MB.
