Rusal's plans to link with Sual to become the world's largest aluminium producer will also involve Glencore International, with the combination incorporating the Swiss trading company's alumina assets and its Sundsvall smelter in Sweden, according to sources familiar with the deal. The new company will be the world's No 1 producer with capacity of just short of 4 million tpy of aluminium and 11 million tpy of alumina. It will be chaired by Sual president Brian Gilbertson with Rusal ceo Alexander Bulygin as ceo, and will plan to list on the London Stock Exchange within three years.
