Financing waste management infrastructure is one of the biggest challenges the organics sector faces. That is why the recent market report by the Green Investment Bank (GIB) into the anaerobic digestion (AD) sector attracted so much attention. The figure in the report which gained the greatest attention was that GIB was "actively investigating" the option of investing up to ?50m of debt financing for AD projects. This could be a significant development, given the challenges many projects face in getting bank funding.
