摘要

Case complexity is widely acknowledged throughout psychological and psychiatric practice (e.g. Tarrier et al., 1998) but especially so in forensic mental health settings when risk to others must also be considered (Sturmey and McMurran, 2011), and prevention of harm is a priority (Hart and Logan, 2011). In the real world of forensic clinical practice, there are often ‘missing data’. There are always multiple contexts and perspectives, the latter typically providing different stories of the same event. Nevertheless, it is arguable that the boundaries of treatability are expanding, as it is increasingly possible to make useful formulations that render a wider range of conditions potentially treatable (Department of Health, 2011; Bateman and Tyrer, 2012).
