Hagen talks non-O 157s in her public debut as undersecretary

Elisabeth Hagen, the new undersecretary for food safety, hinted at a change of policy by USDA in relation to the non-0157:H7 strains of E. coli last week in various public functions. "We need to evolve as science and technology evolve," Hagen told a group of more than 200 attending the Consumer Federation of America and Grocery Manufacturers Association's National Food Policy Conference, in Washington, D.C., during a 30-minute presentation Thursday. "We're looking at what's the best way to protect people and the best way to move forward."
