US Tampa: Sulphur price plunges more than 25%

Mosaic and PotashCorp settled their second-quarter liquid sulphur contract prices at $70/lt FOB Tampa, down $25/lt from Q1, the companies said on April 11. While global sulphur prices are soft, the drop at Tampa reflects the oversupply in the US Gulf due to increased US oil and gas output in the last couple of years. Sulphur recovery has boomed as the US has grown to become the world's largest oil and natural-gas producer. This has followed the development of so-called "tight" oil formations and shale gas.
