Uralkali plans to produce from Solikamsk-2 in 2020

Uralkali announced a new strategy for 2015-2020 in the wake of flooding at its 2.3 million mt/year Solikamsk-2 mine. The plan includes construction of a new mine at SK-2, the company said in a statement. Uralkali will build two new shafts at the SK-2 mine by 2020 to remove the remaining reserves in the mine, the majority of which are still intact, and return to yearly production of 2.3 million mt. Effectively this means production from SK-2, which flooded in November, is lost until that point.
