Production of phosphate rock has now been resumed in Tunisia following several weeks of strikes affecting both production and the transport of phosphate rock and downstream products. Production of DAP at Gabes as well as TSP was resumed at the end of last week and production of phosphoric acid at the TIFERT unit will be restarted imminently. Whereas rock supply has been affected since mid December with the strike by the transport workers, downstream production has been affected since January 12 when rock production was suspended due to a second strike by the miners and rock supplies were finally exhausted. TIFERT loaded its last cargo for CIL/India on January 12.
