Crompton to merge with Great Lakes in global plan

US polymer and speciality chemicals producer Crompton says it will merge with compatriot firm Great Lakes Chemical in a share exchange transaction valued at US1.8bn.The merger will create the third-largest publicly traded US speciality chemicals company with a combined revenue of over US4.1bn and market capitalisation of nearly US3.2bn,said Crompton.
