Schizophrenia drug shows promise in Sars treatment

A DRUG used to treat schizophrenia has been shown to treat and prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome,a team of European and Chinese researchers has found.Cinanserin was seen to inhibit the coronavirus that causes the highly contagious flu-like Sars,and is among a group of 15 drugs being investigated by scientists from FP6's Sino-Euro-pean Project on Sars Diagnostic and Antivirals (Sepsda).
