Monsanto says it has won the key patent battle regarding biotech-gene technology for the transformation of dicot plants such as cotton.The decision by the US Patent and Trademark Office ends a 12-year patent interference dispute with Germany's Max Planck Institute and other parties.Monsanto said the US Patent and Trademark Office details the basis for finding that Monsanto was the first company to invent agrobacterium transformation in dicto plants,which eventually led to farmers having the option to grow biotech crops.
