Statoil wins $2.5 Bn Brazil block

Norway’s Statoil has agreed to acquire a 66% operating stake in the BM-S-8 Block offshore Brazil from the country’s state-owned Petrobras. The US $2.5 Bn acquisition includes a large part of the Carcará oil discovery in the Santos Basin. Carcará was discovered in 2012 on the geological trend of the nearby Lula field and Libra area.
