Australia’s BHP plans to raise exploration spend- ing in 2017, with a focus on three conventional deepwater basins. BHP’s head of geoscience Laura Tyler told the Mining Exploration Day in Sydney that it would spend around US $900m on exploration next year, or around 18% of its overall capital budget, focus- ing largely on copper and petroleum exploration.
