DSME to cut 3,000 jobs

South Korea’s Daewoo is planning to cut around 3,000 jobs - some 24% of its full time work force - as the under pressure contractor looks to control costs. Daewoo employs around 40,000 people, including contract workers, and is reportedly accepting applications for a voluntary retirement programme up to 21 October. Daewoo expects 1,000 employees to participate in the programme. Another 2,000 workers could be transferred into another company, though Daewoo gave no details, according to local reports.
