Monterey play holds 21m bbl

The Monterey Formation in the deepest parts of California’s San Joaquin Basin contains estimated mean volumes of 21m bbl of oil, 764.9 MMcm (27 Bcf) of gas and 1m bbl of natural gas liquids, according to the first USGS assessment of continuous unconventional, technically recoverable resources in the Monterey Formation.
