Statoil eyes UK prospects

In what will be a massive boost to the floundering UK North Sea exploration scene, Norway’s Statoil is gearing up to drill two exploration wells off- shore the UK in Q2 2015 – one in the Catcher area and one west of the Mariner heavy oil field. The two wells could offer up a standalone devel- opment and a boost to the Mariner field in one swoop from Statoil, making them high potential probes for the UK sector.
