United Hydrocarbon International has unveiled successful results of two wells it has drilled in the Doba Basin, southern Chad. The Belanga North-1 exploration well was drilled to a total depth of 1,392m (4,567ft) and encountered three oil-bearing sand intervals; two in the targeted Upper Cretaceous ‘YO’ sands with a combined thickness of net 16.5m (54ft), and a previously untested net 5m (16ft) sand in a shallower horizon.
