BHP weighs up Australia field

BHP Billiton is to evaluate the commerciality of its deepwater Tallaganda gas prospect in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia after it firmed up a recent discovery in the area. Preliminary analysis of wireline log data and samples confirmed the Tallaganda-1 gas discov- ery in the Mungaroo formation, said partner Tap Oil. Data suggested the reservoir quality over the gas-bearing interval was variable at the well loca- tion and said further analysis would be needed to assess the commercial viability of the project.
